Funnily (sort of), when I went to see the midwife on Friday *she* couldn't find the heartbeat - though at least she prefaced the attempt by saying 'now, we can't always find it this early'. She didn't try for as long as my GP did though. So anyway, it was just as well I'd heard it only a week early or I would be truly panicked now. She said I can pop back in sometime I the next couple of weeks to try again if I like - I'm thinking yeah, I will probably do that!
